I must admit to having a weak spot for good stories about Gungans; I like them, and it's always great to see an author handle them with respect, as you have here. A very reasonable sf idea, too, with what your smugglers are stealing. A well-thought-out plot, good character work, and nice thematics... altogether, a terrific piece.

So interesting to read something about the other characters that populate "The Phantom Menace" and the rest of the Star Wars universe! The author handles the particular speech patterns very well, and manages to throw in bits of intrigue and suspense to boot. This is one that readers will want to read quickly, so they can find out what happens next!

I always thought that Tarpals had an inherent dignity about him, and I think you captured that very well.
Fast-paced, action-packed. An enjoyable read.

I liked the story, but I still can't fathom why people couldn't understand what Jar Jar said.

I might be biased, since I beta-read the story... but damn it, it is good! Even this fifth time I read it, I enjoyed every minute.

Very original point of view, well written, flies by because you cannot stop reading it once you start, and shows that some people can distinguish one annoying person from an interesting and proud species...

I really wish that I could write stories like this one!

this was the greatest story. I think you should do one of Tarplas and Jar Jar. like mabey a year or two after episode 1.

The detail and culture imbedded into your stories is always a treat Seldes. And I could never understand why nobody liked Jar-Jar anyway. At the very least people must acknowledge him to be original, and that Uncle George wasn't afraid to try new things.

I too am an admirer of Tarpals and Panaka.

Seldes - This is wonderful. Again, you've expanded and deepened the culture of the Gungans that we see in the prequels. The story gripped me to the end, and your OCs are just as layered and interesting as the canon characters. I think the kaadu made me smile most of all, but my favorite "part" is the forging of a friendship between Captain Panaka and Captain Tarpals. Great work. :)

seldes, I love your work! you and fernwity(?) should write a story together sometime. the gungans are a proud warrior race, not a bunch of goofballs, and you have portayed that well. (Jar-jar is just a gentle soul not ment for fighting,he;s not a coward, so no-one try and use my words against me please)tarpals was spot on, and I commend you for showing such understanding of a fairky important character who got little screen time. Rock on, gungans rule!!!!!!!!
