Good story! I loved how you portrayed Qui-Gon as a baby, it seemed to be pretty realistic. I especially loved how you showed his connection to the Living Force so early. The tree-hugging bit was priceless. The nice little twist at the end, his homeworld being Naboo, was good. I enjoyed that revelation.

I just loved this one, Kim. I don't read OC-centric stories all that often, and I read stories set before TPM even more rarely, but this drew me in from the beginning. I was really impressed with how well drawn the original characters were and how real their relationship seemed. Even more impressive, in my view, is how totally plausible it all felt as an origin for Qui-Gon. It's no mean feat to write something that fits so smoothly with the canon. Great work with this. :D

It was great too see this up - what a beautiful description of GFFA life from a "normal citizen" perspective.

Wonderful story! The characterizations were excellent as well as the emotion. I found it very easy to imagine big, boisterous Amri and tiny but strong Lenora. I almost cried when they had to decide whether to give up their son - I really felt their pain. You have a gift for really pulling people in and not letting go! Bravo!

Aah! I was actually crying, Kimberley! That hasn't happened in a very, very long time. It's so amazing to find work so powerful (and terribly sad!) that it evokes an outpour of emotion from its readers. Maybe it's the fact that a baby was involved (one of my favorite characters, at that!), and I have an overdose of maternal instincts, but whew, the tears were streaming by the end of this one! Brilliant, well-developed OCs, to boot! And just when I thought it couldn't get better, you connected the dots to TPM as well! My head's spinning. Where do you come up with these ingenious ideas?

Bravisima! Another well-deserved addition to the Archive. :)

Thank you for such a powerful story. I felt like I was inside the minds of parents parting with a special child whom they very much loved as they did each other. This was an unusual story that dealt with something that seems like it would have been a major problem for families in the Old Republic, especially when all contact was cut off. It showed parents with a great and unselfish love for their child.

This is really such a lovely fic. Qui-Gon's parents are so real, loving their son and then having to give him up. It's wonderfully sad when Qui-Gon's brother finally finds out about his older brother, long lost to the Jedi. The best things come from Naboo.

Very good story but in the Jedi Apprentice series, i believe it said, there was a stone that glowed when a baby was strong with the force.

except Palpatine.

Thank you to everyone who has read this story. I had a lot of fun imagining Qui-Gon's parents and what their love story might have been like. And thanks to my betas who did such a great job.

Yes, there is a stone mentioned in the Jedi Apprentice books. It is one that Qui-Gon gives to Obi-Wan. Such a stone was not used to identify Force sensitive infants, however, it was just a particular stone that Qui-Gon owned and then gave to his Padawan. A midichlorian count was the most commonly used way to identify a Force sensitive, at least in everything I've read.

This was lovely. I really love the two OCs and their love is a strong and vibrant thing.

I thought it very appropriate that Qui-Gon would be born and die on Naboo.

Great job.

What a great story. I loved the way you showed the love that parents have for their children and the sacrifices that they make for their future. I loved the way that you brought the Jinn family full circle from happiness, too sorrow and then finally to happiness at the end. I definitly would like to read other works that you have written.

I love how you protrayed the bonds between Lenora, Amry, and Qui-Gon. I absolutely loved little baby Qui-Gon. The end made me cry, though. That was beautiful, and a point of view I had never considered; I've thought that it's sad that the Jedi never know their parents, but isn't it so much more sad that the parents never really know the Jedi? Absolutely beautiful work. I LOVE it.
