I don't usually have time to read the fan fiction, but I try to take a peak every now and then. This is an awesome story. It wonderfully shows how humorous Qui-Gon is. I love Qui-Gon's reply: " Allowed, but strongly discouraged." Sounds like my school or something. So many things are allowed, yet very highly discouraged. Great job!

Hmmm, interesting. I, too, have wondered how Luke and Qui-Gon would get along. Now we know! Very gfood story, I liked it a lot. But I don't think it's very plausible. It might have worked better if Qui had appeared in a dream or something. On the toher hand, R2-D2 and C-3PO are merely machines, yet they have personality. So maybe it worked after all. Good job!

The concept of Luke meeting Qui-Gon had potential, but this story was so far-fetched it didn't work for me at all. Luke seemed almost bitter and a little out of chracter. The thing about Obi-Wan being wrong in what he did with Luke didn't sit well with me, either. It's clear Obi-Wan and Yoda decided on the best course of action in regards to Luke, and I just cannot see Yoda agreeing to make any Jedi act out of hatred. Also- and I hate to point out things like this - but there were several spelling errors that could have been caught with a simple spell-check on any computer. I read the fic here because TF.N holds a much higher standard than any other FanFic site. Spelling mistakes should not be tolerated. I'm not blaming you, the author, for the errors. It's extremely difficult for a person to proof their own work, which is why TF.N demands each story be checked by two Beta Readers before. You need to contact the people who did the Beta and tell them they did a poor job. Other than that, the writing was very good, and there were some great one-liners. I'll give it a 7 out of 10 for a very good effort and some interesting ideas.

I just thought I'd defend my beta readers here. They were extrememly thorough and dedicated. The fic went through a spellchecker. I think the 'spelling mistakes' which may be irritating some people are actually a result of my nationality. I'm British and use British spelling - so things like colour, honour, axe, sabre, centre, metre, valour etc would actually be spelled right. I was fortunate enough to have two extremely good beta readers and would like to thank them for doing a really professional job on this. Thanks to Jane Jinn and Quiller! Marnie :)

Not bad, not bad at all...exept that I do not think that Holocron can be made after the death of a person. As i understood, holocrons was imprinted by "personality" of a certain Jedi/Sith while they still lived. Besides, as someone already menthioned, I do think that Luke was presented as too bitter....although that depends on a "certain point of view" of author. Overall, nice read.

I think Qui-Gin also should have made referance to Luke's Deraly departed mommy the Queen/Senator Amidala. I like to read good fanfic, I guess i wish it had been a little longer.

Very well done. I am assuming this is well after ROTJ into the EU (regarding the NJO Luke's struggling with & references to Callista) and therefore, Luke's character has evolved beyond the simple farmboy or even the Jedi we see in ROTJ. Given the whims of the Force and Qui-Gon's strong personality it's not so farfetched that a bit of his Force spirit seeped into the holographic image recorded before his death. That most likely would account for his knowledge of some things such as the fact he no longer existed on the material plane. I really like it (Brit spellings and all, hehehe...) :)

In an odd sort of way, this story worked for me... I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes from here. It would be interesting to see the two of them go on some sort of adventure or quest together, all the while discussing their memories of Ben and learning from one another-- Luke from an older, more experienced Jedi Master, and Qui Gonn from one who has had to live with the consequences of his (Qui Gonn's) actions and decisions regarding Ben and Anikin.

I really think that this story portrayed Qui-Gon the way he would be if it was a peaceful time. I really like the tie in with Luke. The two make an unruly pair. But there is definatly quit a few things that Luke could learn from Qui-Gon, and in return Qui-Gon from Luke. I also strongly liked that Qui was able to defy the laws of normal holograms, and act somewhat like a normal person. Overall this was a very well written fic.

And VERY intriguing perspectives on Jedi philosophy and the possible cause of their downfall. A lot of that rings true in my mind and fits perfectly with how I imagine Qui-Gon would assess it. Your characterizations were spot on, in my opinion.

I gave this story a 10 out of 10, and this is why: I've often wondered what Qui Gon would have thought about the effects his actions had on the galaxy. Now, to some extent we know. The story was very well written and I thought the bitterness of Luke was believeable as well as warranted. Not only is this man (Qui-Gon) responsible for Darth Vader in some way, but he's bad mouthing Luke's two teachers. I think where the story ended is a good place, and I don't think we should see the holocron of Qui-Gon and the Jedi Master Luke on any adventures. That's just my opinion. Anyways, I thought the story was great and look forward to more from you.

Hmm...I did think both Luke and Qui-Gon were a bit out of character. Luke sounded like a whiny farmboy again and Qui-Gon sounded very negative, and I didn't like how he kept making up reasons. It didn't sound like Qui-Gon. I thought that Obi-Wan and Yoda were good teachers, and that under the leadership of Mace Windu, Yoda, Eeth Koth, and Ki-Adi-Mundi, the Jedi Order wouldn't all go to the dark side, would they?

There is fan fiction. And then there is story telling.
This writer has taken a random mention in the Jedi Apprentice, combined the little we know of Qui-Gon Jinn's childhood from canon and *deduced* a brilliant scenario.
It's the little things that make Qui-Gon's characterisation perfect: His excitement that a poisonous semi-sentient plant likes him, his kneeling in mud to watch *pittins* cross, his insistence that 'nobody is a nobody' and most importantly: his belief that he belongs to the Force, and not necessarily to the Jedi. We, the readers, are clealy and unmistakenly shown the seeds of the character that make up the man in TPM, half a century later.
Yoda was spot-on, as well: terrible in his love for his Order, his desire to *break* Qui-Gon if need be in order to preserve the Jedi and yet still wise in his own self-awareness. The family was also well described - both typically and uniquely - for any Jedi's family and for Qui-Gon Jinn's.
I enjoyed the elements of prophecy here: The Force revealing to Yoda that Qui-Gon is a sort of *fore-bearer* of sorts for the Chosen One and the Balance; the decay of the Order as evinced in the symbolism of the vision, and I think this was not meant to be a prophecy but an event that was already happening at the time of the story.
My favourite little quote:
'How do you heal a bone which has been broken and set badly?' 'You re-break it.'
Two thumbs up!

How do I say this in as few words as possible? Okay: The unfortunate fact is that fanfictions are written by amateurs. So, I'll say this to you - leave the fanfics to us amateurs, you go write a book or something. For those of us who have a love of words, your prose is a welcome surprise. I'm not sure I agree with all of your very intriguing spins on the canon, but I guess that was sort of the point of the story, wasn't it? Anyway, very nicely done! Definitely the best I've read so far.

But this, flat-out, does not deserve it's rating. Qui-Gon would never, never act like that. If you're going to make a fanfiction about a character, study the character. Would Qui-Gon say "Oh, Obi-Wan must hate me...". No.
A good fan-fiction, yes... You just didn't nail down the characters, I'm sorry.

Personally, I really liked this and thought the characters were very in character. While Luke seemed a little bitter, I believe he was. After all he went through it would be unbelievable if he still acted like the kid from A New Hope. Though he still reflected that new Jedi calm he found as he grew older. And Qui-Gon was an absolute delight. He was thought provoking and quirky just like I believe his personality is. And the talks about Obi-Wan and Yoda's teaching of Luke was very interesting. Like Luke, I'd never thought of it like Qui-Gon presented it, but he was right... from a certain point of view, which I can agree with. Brilliant story! I'm thrilled I found it.
