Your delicate prose conveyed a feeling of warmth and nostalgia. We saw early signs of Luke and Anakin's ultimate fate.

I loved the introduction as well; vivid whispers and fragments from a lost place. Your gentle writing style gave some parts of this story an almost dream-like feel.

Beautiful story. Simple, elegant grace, touches of bittersweetness and sorrow there. Fits the Trilogy well. The last bit - Luke wondering about his father dying to protect him - as well as Obi-Wan's memories - lovely. Well-written, well-woven. Someday I'll finish my own SW fic. Hah. :)

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I felt sorry for Luke and for the dragons. Also loved the way you tied in the events of Episode One.

I read this story before somewhere and I loved it! I still love it - it's beautifully written and very moving. The bits about Padme were a nice touch - the first paragraph is heart wrentching, as Luke is taken from his mother and sister.

WOW. the best fanfic i've ever read, easily. the parallels to the OT, especially Luke's question at the end, were extremely powerful. The portrayal of Obi-Wan raises many questions as to his motives. Perhaps he was too distraught by the loss of Anakin, and seeing Luke reminded him too much?

Excellent story, Fernwithy.
I especially liked how Obi-Wan saw both of Luke's parents in the boy -- a uniting of their strength, if you will.
The hints of the twin connection were tantalizing, and tie-in wonderfully with how both twins simply 'knew' who the other was in the OT.

Don't know how I missed this when it was first archived! An excellent little vignette about Luke's early life, it resonates with characterization and understanding. Reminding readers that Obi-Wan was "no doubt" keeping an eye on young Skywalker all the time, the author shows us in a satisfactory fashion how memories long dead and a commitment to safety come together to ensure the young boy's safety.

And the little bit with Aunt Beru is heart-rending. It had to be tough to raise Luke without being able to tell him of his family. And even though Luke may feel that his mother is with him always, Beru knows the truth of everything, and yet she must continue to keep these secrets. In Fern Withy's capable hands, you can identify with this woman and her dilemma.

Very well done, and an terrific addition to the archive.

Wow. What else can I say? You are indeed a powerful writer. I can't tell you how impressed I was with "Dragonslayer". It captured the character of young Luke perfectly. And I felt Obi-Wan's lonliness and grief over the loss of Anakin.

My favorite characters in Star Wars have always been the Skywalker family and Obi-Wan. So reading an excellent fan fiction featuring all of them was very satisfying. Thank you for a beautifully woven tale!

I hope to read more of your stories in the future. You truly are a gifted writer.

If the pinnacle of fan fiction writing is to create a situation that is not only plausible to the canon environment but convinces the reader that 'this really happened and in no other way can this have happened' then as far as I am concerned, with 'Dragonslayer', Fernwithy has reached the summit.

Hehee, dreaming of Leia racing against her friends back on Alderaan, is he? ^^ I love how inter-related many of the details of your stories are.. it's very reassuring, in a way. After reading them a number of times, I tend to even forget that they were simply fanfiction, rather than canon material, since you write so believably and with such perfect characterizations.. and find myself disappointed when other author's fanfics don't allude to the same details that yours do. (Sometimes I'll get snobbish and not even <i>want</i> to read Star Wars fanfiction by anyone else, heh, since I'm so used to the quality of your stories.)

Anyway, this is the second time I've read this, dunno if I left a comment before. If so, whoops. If not.. you're a wonderful author, thanks for writing as much as you do, I *adore* your stories. They're marvelous. :)

I loved it! It was espeshaly nice to read after sssoooooooooooooooooooo many other fan fics. you get a little calused after a wile. But this was a real healer, warm and gental. I was very good to read a fan fic like that again.
