I would like to note that this Act of Fanfiction has been dedicated to James Khan, who wrote the novelization of "Return of the Jedi" and, in my opinion, set a high-water mark for depicting Palpatine that most writers -- professional and fanficters alike -- fall short of. Kudos, Mr. Khan ... you got it right! -- John Takis

AWESOME!!!! there really is no other word for it.... The way you captured the heart, cold as it is, of the Dark Side, really brings a new.....well darkness to the Star Wars Universe....and interesting for it is rare that you can find a good story about how the "Villians" of the universe are the victors

Fasinating, the best piece of fanfiction I have read in a long time. I find Palpatine the most fasinating character in the Star Wars universe. Much better writen than any of the other EU Palpatine stories I have read. Write me a 1000 page book please!!

What a great insight into Palpatine's mind! In these all-too-brief words, we see him as a three-dimensional person, not just the lightning bolt spewing Emperor. And, we get a bonus of Vader's mind of the end. Bravo!

Wow. I am now in the process of writing a novella about Palpatine's son, who consequently was at one point a dark Jedi under his father. This gave me great insight into Palpatine's way of thinking. Thank you very much. May the Force be with You, Always.

Impressive... most impressive. I found this sory truly inspiring and a thoughtful dive into the depths of a Dark Side mind. Amazing. Perhaps, one day, I will have the honour of being chronicled in this fashion? Until then... fear is power.

This was a very interesting idea, unlike any fan-fic I've read before, and it was executed wonderfully. You really did a great job going inside Palpatine's mind and showing his manipulative skills, and the bit with Vader at the very end was also great.

Great story. Reminds me of Yoda's line from Episode II. "Lies, deceit, creating mistrust are his ways now."

Myth is the power of capturing the imagination of the masses... this truly embellishes on the myth of Palpatine. This helps fill my void that desires more Star Wars myth than the movies can offer.

Your characterization was exquisite. The inner workings of Palpatine's mind were made both understandable and full of intrigue for the reader. I find your writing to be on the same level as Khan's. Wonderful and entertaining story, one of my new favorites.

I just want to thank those of you who took (and will take) the time to post your comments here. And for those of you who are reading this with no intention of posting a comment, thanks for reading this far anyway. ;-) Unfortunately, I have no plans to write more Star Wars fanfic except by special commission or inspiration. Do check out my short "Across the Stars," featured in TFN's anthology "Do You Take This Woman..." for another dose of Palpy goodness. Or badness, as the case may be. "The Force is with us."

This was an excellent story. Truly wonderful. I myself am writing a story in which the main character(s) are Dark Side practitioners. One is Palpatine an the other is a new Darth created from within the depths of my twisted mind! Anyhoo, great story. You really are a gifted writer. Kudos to you!
