First I'd like to thank all my beta readers - I must have had over six - for all their time and effort. I think this is a wonderful story, and I enjoyed it when I read it the first time... I like the way the character interact with each other. Padmé is very in character. It is a really good prelude for ATC. Great work!

I agree - this is a wonderful prelude to AOTC. I also like the explanation of the handmaidens' presence, since in the movie I didn't really understand why she had them when she wasn't queen anymore. I don't know, maybe I'm befuddled easily. ;)

I also liked this because we know what Anakin and Obi-Wan were doing before AOTC (because of the book The Approaching Storm), but not Padme. So this was very interesting to read.

Lovely story, Eirtae!

I thoroughly enjoyed the new version. You managed to link this piece to AOTC perfectly, it was amazing. Everything just started to click. Since I beta-read this long ago, I already knew who the traitor was, so it did ruin a bit of the fun.

However, your easy-going writing style was pleasant and very much fitted this story. I wish I could have seen more moments where the handmaidens were bonding. That was my only concern.

Glad to see you got this in!

Wow, what a great fic! Why haven't you told me about this fic? Or was I just being ignorant and skipped over it... well, I guess I read it now... it's great! All that mystery and treachery... should have known it was Chole, she's strange... but Kal? How could he? Argh... and Palpatine's still running free... this is not good...

Eirtae - I remember betaing this, and I'm so glad it made it to the archive! Excellent adventure mystery - even though I knew how it ended, it kept me tense till the finish the second time through. It also fits in quite well with canon as a setup to AOTC. I hope there's more where this came from! :)

Very nice! I loved the part about the handmaidens dragging Banton Nax out of Padmé's office! Even when he was trying to apologize, and grabbing Sabé's arm, I thought they might have to take action against him again. And as for the traitor, I almost suspected Rabé. Kal was the bigger surprise, though. That part where Palpatine told Padmé to keep as many security guards around her as she needed made me shiver, though. I just knew he was going to try again, and the worst thing of it is that, far from suspecting him, nobody can even conceive of the possibility that he himself might be involved.

Good job on the fan fic, Eirtae! I did not suspect Kal at ALL! I find that interesting considering the fact that people tend to be shocked that no one could see Palpatine rising to power until it was too late for the entire galaxy.

This is a very good prelude to AOTC, as many before me have pointed out. It ties up a few loose ends, and you get the feeling that this could really have happened.

Anyway, good job! Keep up the good work. :p.

all very in character and some nice action scenes
