This story is awesome, Lothi! It's great to see it up. The emotions are powerful, and the love that the trooper has for his young family is evident. I really love how you illustrate this by showing us another look at the scene between Luke and Vader. A truly amazing work!

This is a wonderful story, Lothi! :) I must say that when I first saw the mention of Eiren, I wasn't thinking of a twist in the story along these lines. You brought the beginning and the end together very well.
I really liked the spirit that Luke and the officer shared.

Very well written piece. I enjoyed reading about the thoughts of a stormtrooper, they did have feelings too. A very thoughtful and compelling glimpse at a character that could be any man.

Great fic! It's nice to see a story from the point of view of an just an "ordinary" guy, especially an Imperial. Too often they get represented as being either wholeheartedly evil or just faceless grunts without considering that they were people too and that the vast majority of them were just ordinary soldiers fighting for what they believed in; good job humanizing them. Love the story, and I hope to see more! :)

I have to admit, as much as I can't see a stormtrooper having a family, seeing they were bred and cloned to not have independant thought, it was a very good story. I just thought perhaps it would hve been more beleivable had it been a slightly higher officer. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hate to sound too negative, but wasn't Luke brought to the landing platform in an AT-AT?

I really liked this story. It shows that Stormtroopers are people with emotions and feelings, not just cannon fodder. You should write more stories with an Imperial point of view.

You gave us a whole new insight to the emotions of a storm trooper. Of the pain of being away from loved one. Thinking of his child growing up without him.

I have watched that scene so many times, and I've always wondered the same thing - just what is that stormtrooper thinking when Luke announces he is Vader's son. What a great insight to a well written story.

I loved that one tiny moment where you mention how much Luke's eyes look like the trooper's son: "Miss you, Daddy." The connection of relationships is so subtle and beautiful.

That was an excellent story. I was really struck by the way the stormtrooper saw an echo of his son's eyes in Luke's eyes, and thought of his son saying, "Miss you, Daddy". I also had to smile at the vision of a hulking Vader bouncing a blond toddler on one black-clad knee. The best part, though, was that after the stormtrooper's instinctively nervous reaction at the first mention of Vader, he was then changed positively by being allowed to witness the reunion of father and son, and was inspired to contact home with a message for his own son.

I have to say that I truely enjoyed this piece. The EU and official LucasFilm commentary has never quite reconciled some contradictions about how stormtroopers are trained, expected to behave, how they serve, and the personas of these not-quite-so machine-like men that have become evident throughout the storytelling of the genre. This piece works marvelously to reconcile the traditinos of Imperial training and brainwashing with the reality of serving afterwards. Most stories which show stormtroopers with personality also suggest that they have served a while or are conscripts from the planet upon which they serve. This is a kind of open secret in that it takes some looking to realize and this story follows that pattern. Thanks again to the author.

Wow.. This is a great fanfiction! Especially since it's one of those rarities that deal with soldiers, even rarer still is an Imperial stormtrooper. But I have to beg the question. "Does he survive?" I really hope he does. Hell, maybe he defects :D or is that too much to ask?

"Impressive, most impressive..." I swear I have seen that part of the movie hundreds of times, and I always think to myself, I wonder what that stormtrooper is thinking right now? I guess now I have a pretty good idea.
Your writing skills are very good. Here is a side to look at if you want to write another story. What Vader is thinking as he leaves the Emperor's throne room and goes to Endor. He is obviously torn. He knows it, the Emperor knows it, and Luke knows it. But I have never read anyone bring out his pain and emotions during these moments he is alone on the shuttle.

Actually, the Stormtroopers from the OT, were also clones, at least that's what Lucas seemed to have said. And as far as I'm aware, they weren't bred for being thoughtless, its just that their thoughts would be extremely unlikely to be interpreted in a non-military point of view, thanks to the way and age from which they're trained. Nonethelss, I also think this story was cool.
