As one of the reviewers on this one, I really recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. Great characterization of a child Luke--believable that he'd grow into the man we met in the Classic. And a wonderful extrapolation on the scars Kenobi might have after Anakin's fall.

Xcelent!...I loved it! Great characterization of all the characters and the best way I've ever seen Padmé's dead portrayed. I also loved the pace and the general continuity, which fits right in with the Classic Trilogy. Keep it up!

Wow! Excellent story! I really like the way you portrayed all the characters. Ben's "incident" of four years past explains why Owen doesnt like him, and I like the way you were able to tie the events of AOTC into your story. Young Luke, the way you wrote him, fits into Lucas's older Luke perfectly. Good job, and keep it coming!

I enjoyed this a lot. Obi-Wan's "exile" on Tattoine intrigues me, particularly now that we've gotten to know the dashing young Padawan and Jedi as well as the "crazy old wizard," which renders his time there all the more touching. This story helped bridge the gap nicely and was filled with great character development and pathos, yet ended on a note of (a new?) hope.

Wilhelmina, I really enjoyed your story. I've often speculated about Obi-Wan's days on Tattoine. I am glad you ended on a positive note. Obi-Wan was so strong in the Force that I've never been able to believe that he spent 20 some years wallowing in self-pity and guilt. Your story showed how he moved through those feelings to resolution and the conviction to carry on even if he wasn't clear about his ultimate purpose.

I really like the end of the story; the tiny twist, the bit of forgiveness on the part of Owen Lars. It seems so natural, so selfless, that we can finally come to understand their immense love for Luke, all in different ways.

Great fan-fic. The characters were great. Although we see some irritation by Owen Lars when Luke mentions "Ben Kenobi" in A New Hope, I always wondered if that was an act between Ben and Owen. Something expressed simply to protect Luke. Yet, the history revealed in this story would explain Owen's dislike for Ben. Again, Great writing. Hope to read more!

A nice weave. I especially liked the bookend contrast of the timelessness of the universe versus the fleeting nature of mankind. Obi-Wan had slightly more longevity than his footstep in the sand -- and it made me think about the temporal nature of the Empire. As if the Force was whispering, "This too shall pass."

What a delightful story! I can't believe I've only just now gotten around to reading it. I liked everything about it, especially the way that Obi-Wan realized maybe his task was not to save Anakin, but to save Luke instead. I also liked the way that he was willing to take on a new identity, that of a wizard, and the way that Owen actually offered him hospitality. Wonderful writing!

This was linked on a Recc site on LJ called Crack_van. This is a fantastic peice of wrting! Your Ben Kenobi was very very in character, and I love his "conversations" with the force - that yes, sounded a great deal like Qui-Gon.
Unfortunate that some of the details in this have been "Lucas'd" by Revenge of the Sith - the death of Padme and Ben and Luke's reactions to it was a masterfull touch.
Very very well done. Thank you.

Even after the release of ROTS, the large part of this story is still a really great read; Anakin's turn and Obi-wan's guilt are well portrayed.
