Very touching. It made me think of what might have been if Qui-gon had been allowed to live. His character is one of the most noble within the the Star Wars realm and one of the more tragic. Just once, you want to see him wring some happiness out of life as opposed to his altruistic denial of the self. This kind of piece only serves to make characters like Qui-gon and Shmi more endearing. Good work.

I can't believe i wasted all that time reading something so boring. Star wars is supposed to be exciting.

A well written quietly pleasant little fic. Qui-Gon has always been my favorite Jedi character. Not everyone can write a nice quiet fic like this, so don't listen to Darth Jar Jar.

i can't believe i passed over this the first time i browsed thru the archive.

your portrayal of qui-gon's affectionate reminiscence about obi-wan:

Even now, I have a rather headstrong one, though Obi-Wan no longer argues over bedtimes.

--when i read this, i knew i had to read the story through

portrayals of shmi and qui-gon, their inner thoughts, their interaction, the entire story from start to finish -- the word is tour de force. exceptionally well-crafted prose as well. (p.s. the tryst on the roof made me BLUSH!!!)

She felt the calluses on his palm - created by years of study with a lightsaber, she knew - ... .... They were both servants, of a sort, though his was through free will while hers was not.

-- beautiful juxtaposition and insight

While I watch the Phantom Menance, I always notice the sparks and the looks between Schmi and Qui-gon, but I thought it was just my imagination! I guess other people saw it to! I love your story very well written, it was a tear-jerker, and I enjoyed it!
