I can see Qui-Gon doing something like this, but what I can't see is Dooku putting up with it.

Wonderful! You captured the essence of Qui-Gon (though I too have doubts that Dooku would have put up with the "pets".)

Oh, this was good! I'd really like the story to be longer, with more story line. Merely as an idea, I always thought Gui Gon liked pets, what other reason would there be for making a big, noisy and somewhat messy collection of Kenobi-Binks-Amidala-Skywalker?

You know this story makes me smile.
I like Dooku's rationales (rationalizations?) and how they suggest that he's not really that sorry to find a reason to give in. Considering he tamed (okay, mind-controlled) a greater krayt dragon as a Sith, I wonder if his tastes in animal companionship had changed or if he leaned toward the large and dangerous already -- maybe he would have been fine communing with the rancor if there had been room? ;)

Well I don't know what Dooku would do with all those critters, but I know I enjoyed the story greatly. Well done :)

Very well done. I'm not sure why some can't imagine Dooku allowing Qui-Gon to keep the pets; when I read this story, I saw a well-characterized Dooku decades before he became a Sith Lord. He felt like a younger, Jedi version of Dooku.
And of course, that's just spot-on for a Padawan Qui-Gon.
