I really enjoyed all the parallels to the OT. I like AU stories but this trilogy has got to be one of my favorite because too often Luke is given nearly all the credit for bringing down the Emperor and now he's in a possition where he helped the Emperor. Very well written.

Great conclusion to a wonderful trilogy. I especially enjoyed the mental bond you allowed Han and Leia to have. Definitely cool to see Leia as the anchor of this story. The ending was really touching.

Wow!!! What a great conclusion to the trilogy! I enjoyed reading this story as much as I enjoy watching the originals. Best of luck for future stories.

This was an amazing Trilogy, even if it took me four days to read all three. I like how Leia was a big part of taking down the emperor and how she and Luke were able to 'commune' with their father even if it was only for a short while. However I just have one question..What happened to Mara Jade?

I did like this trilogy although I thought that parts of it were inaccurate. For instance, there is no way that Mara Jade would have been able to assasinate Yoda. That's actually the only part I would change. Other than that, this was a very well written story. Keep up the good work!

WOW. This was truly an amazing story. The ending was incredible--it made me cry! There were some parts that were pretty far-fetched like Mara Jade killing Yoda (that could NOT have happened) but the plot was great on the whole. You have a definite talent for writing and i hope to see more of your work.

I've read a lot in my eighteen years, from surf magazines to Keats and everywhere in between. Fanfiction is a lazy hobby of mine I haphazardly entertain when its too cold for the beach or I get the urge to write.

Of everything I've read in the SW universe or outside of it completely, I can honestly say that the Burden of Choice/Dying of the Light/When Morning Comes trilogy is one of the best works of fanfiction I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Thank you for writing Darth Ishtar; authors like yourself provide the chum that drive fans like myself in a reading frenzy. Hehe. In all seriousness, smashing job. Out of the park even.

Hope to read more of your work soon, and please feel free to e-mail me if you would like the help of a beta-reader.

Cheers,
Skye

I love Star Wars, and I have got to be one of the biggest fans of fanfics around. Though usually I don't like "what if" stories, yours was amazing! It was very well written and the plot was excellent. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see more of your work soon.

This was a fantastic fanfic. It took me a week to read (no time), but it was well worth it. It was especially good because not only was it a well formed alternate universe, but the character changes that the main characters underwent lent a creativity to the universe DarthIshtar recreated in his(?) trilogy. This is possibly the best fanfic of this genre that I have ever read. DarthIshtar gave just the right mixture of Romanticism, Action, Drama, Information, and Creativity of Plot to make this fic a real pleasure to read.

Only two complaints about the whole trilogy: !0 The Mara/Yoda thing, and 2) Only mentions of Threepio and NO ARTOO!! R2-D2 is the heart and soul of SW. I really enjoyed reading the stories, though.

Most fanfictions are incredibly frustrating in that the writing might be nice for writing's sake, but the CHARACTERS are completely contradictory to what we've come to love and expect from SW - or just flat and one dimensional, a boring repetition of the movie. BUT! This was DELIGHTFUL. Not only did the characters act - and react - like the real people I love to imagine them as, this fic added absolutely believeable dimensions to them. Strangely - after all, this is AU - this is one of the best portrayals of Luke I've seen (in the Timothy Zahn league, even). A shame some of the other Star Wars novels didn't have as much life as this fic did...completetely probable alternate to SW.

It's really great. One would wonder if the author had prior experince in such a field, and if not then perhaps they should seek it.

I agree with the Mara killing Yoda point-not likely at all! I also wondered about Luke-what was he thinking, or rather why wasn't he? He went over to save Leia and now he wants to kill her. The emperor's mind control help clear that up. Thank goodness he came to his senses in time! Great story. Hope you write more. If you have an e-mail list, please add mine! Thanks for hours of enjoyment.

I usually don't like AU stuff but this was great. It did kind of bother me that Leia referred to Mara as a Sith. I thought she had force training but not as a Sith. Anyhow I loved how you portrayed the Dark/Light of the Force. It felt very truthful to me.

p.s. RULDS2?

MARY, thanks for the response. I agree on the matter of addressing Mara, but wrote it in the context of having to have pure black and white areas, being able to trust few between the two. Iamlds2. Proud veteran of the San Fernando, CA Spanish Mission and a student at BYU.

Artful and a quite beautiful piece of fan fiction. I love it! Your writing and style and characterizations make everything seem like they are possible! This entire trilogy has been one of the highlights of reading Star Wars fan fiction.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

The ending, with Anakin's sacrifice, was masterfully done, and unique among the many stories I've read. My only slight issue is that I highly doubt Mara could take out Yoda. Remotely possible, but certainly not likely.

Overall, a wonderful tale masterfully told. Keep up the marvelous work!
