I thought this was a very good story that showed how the innocent sons of the Imperial officers suffered. Good character development. A story that shows both sides suffered.

I enjoyed this story a lot. I like to look at the "innocent" Imperials -- it's a different take on the war, and you handle it (and your original characters) well here.

I thought that this story was quite interesting. It conveyed the feelings of "the other side" and showed that there were innocent beings enrolled in the Empire's reign. Whenever I hear "Empire," I think of Stormtroopers, Darth Vader or the evil and destruction that it is capible of. It is rarely thought that there are students and teachers under the Empire. This was a very nice look at "how the other half lives"

Great story, well written. We need more of this kind, which shows that a war is never between absolute good and evil, but it has many sides and point of views.

An enjoyable read FernWithy! The GFFA is huge, and its nice to see someone write about the lil' corners I never thought about. Imperial officers as family men... never occured to me.

The ending was a little bit "Lord of the Flies-ish" I think. They could be in Rison's Deep a long time...

This fic is completely unique-- I've never read anything like it. It shows more of the depth of this galaxy we all write about, depths that we have never been able to see before.

Very interesting, and extremely well-executed. The latter half -- where they learned about the Death Star's destruction and dealt with it -- was a real gut-wrencher.

Just as good, if not better, than when you sent it to me via PM in the Jedi Council Forums. A very nice read. I'm glad you finally decided to archive. I'd like to think my positive comments to you about this story, helped in your decision to post it here. Thanks for sharing your excellent story with us. 10 out of 10.

Thanks to everyone for reading and commenting! I don't write a lot of all-original character fics, and I'm glad you all liked this one. Thanks also to a writing challenge in which we were supposed to write "interviews" with the small people at the periphery of the war. I made up Estion and Perup for that, and it all just rolled from there.

(And yes, UrbanJedi, your kind comments were instrumental in convincing me to put this one through the beta process and submit. Much appreciated. Kudos also to my betas, Mcily Nochi and Darth Pipes, whose suggestions are responsible for the improvements.)

Hey, great fanfic, I assume by the ending a follow-up is planned? Just my guess, but it looks like the sequel will be based on the survival of this remaining house- but this leaves out another possibilty the fic mentions. How would you feel about another writer doing the female "officer offspring" school and the reactions there? Email me (evilsquirrel@fastmail.fm) with your reactions.

That was easily one of the most thought-provoking fan-fics I've ever read, and it had some very nicely drawn characters too. Great story.

I enjoyed it immensely. The only problem I had with SW was it was TOO black and white, this tale brings a bit of reality into the SW universe. Can't wait for the sequel that is hinted at in the ending.

I thought that this story countered one of the main problems I think the movies have, which is that the Rebels are entirely good and the Imperials are entirely bad.

This story was interisting, Seen at a different point of view. The Rebel Alliance is evil and I'd like to thank the author for pointing this out,

Remember the begining of ROTS?
"There are Heros on both sides. Evil is everywhere."
Somehow I don't think GL was talking just about the Republic there.
