I truly enjoyed this story. It was simple yet it warmed the heart with its innocence and simplicity. It was very well written and the details ran smoothly together, creating a unique and wonderful moment in the Star Wars universe.

Whenever I watch TPM and Qui-Gon says, "Good morning," to Shmi, I get the impression that something went on between them the previous night. The way you've written it works very well.

Excellent lost scene. I can truly see something like this occuring between Qui-Gon and Shmi. Always felt there was more going on between them than the glimpse we got in TPM. Sensitively done with just the right amount of pathos. :D

Good story! Qui-Gon-Jinn and Shmi Skywalker obviously had some kind of relationship going on in TPM. Good work!

Beautiful! I've always been an avid believer of the whole Qui-Gon/Shmi thing, and this is a wonderful story about it.

A needed scene. Well written. Only one thing. Jedi are not aloud to get married.

Qui-Gon is not to big on the rules thing though.

I really enjoyed your story. As for the comments that Jedi don't get married, you can correct this by deleting the line that says that lots of other jedi are married. By omiting that line,I think that would solve the "Jedi don't get married" problem.

That being said, I must say that the characterization and storyline are wonderful, and I could visualize this as a deleted scene from The Phantom Menace. Well done!

~This was a great piece of FanFic, except for a few tid bits here and there. (One being the marriage thing. Jedi can't and don't get married.) Other than the few wrong details, it was a scene that I could accually see being part of the movie. That, and it makes sense, for the most part. Keep writing like this is all I can really say.

The most well-written romance I have ever had the pleasure to read.Except Jedi can't get married, but then I made Obi-Wan marry a girl once.Qui-Gon wouldn't care, either.

Well, as I recall this story, Qui-Gon didn't say he had been married in the past or that he was going to marry Shmi -- it was a choice. It's conceivable in this scenario that the life with Shmi would be contingent upon his leaving the Order. Being forbidden to actually marry is different from never thinking about alternate possibilities.

Jedi CAN get married. Luke did and he knew that the Jedi Council did not approve of marrage, and so did Ani. Any way cute story:) Great Job!

I've only recently rediscovered this story, and both times I thought it was great. And now I have it in my favorites so I'll never lose it again. (sighs dreamily) This night is so much better thanks to you and your talent.

I'm glad that someone addressed the Qui-Gon/Shmi connection. I've always supported the idea that the two either shared a moment that night, or that they may have even known each other previously. A fine read. Thanks for sharing it.

Amazing. Sure Jedi can't get married, but a little error like that dont ruin a truly wonderful written piece of fiction that truly builds upon one of the more passionate issues in TPM. Great work!

The part where Shmi is described, and it is suggested that this is why the midichlorian's chose her... Stunning. I never considered this. I wonder if that was Lucas' intention when creating her. I'm not a big fan fic reader, but this has changed my mind.

Very difficult to write, this story is.

Bit too late to reflect on what Jeff 42 had said about the "good morning" Qui-Gon gave Shmi in TPM, but oh well. Notice that he says it in such a way that...well, seduces females. I only said that because my older sister thought so and I wanted to give her a chance to express her feelings too. Anyway, Qui-Gon was kinda speaking like, "Good Morr-Ning." Very odd.

Beautiful story this is. Good job! ^_^

Jedi CANNOT get married. Luke did not know about that law (he did not know most of the Jedi laws and mores, as Vader had destroyed most of them systematically. Luke spent many years trying to find bits and pieces.) Vergere, the Jedi Knight of old who, after fifty years with the Vong, rejoins the mainstream galaxy, is scornful and horrified that Luke has married and allows his "new Jedi Order" to do so.

As for Anakin marrying, Obi-Wan makes it clear in the Republic gunship that Ani would get expelled from the Order for his feelings for padme - isn't that the basis for all the secrecy in their Ep II marriage (and as we will see, in Ep III, as Padme keeps her pregnancy hidden?)

True, a few Jedi, like Thracia Cho Leem and Nejaa Halycon, married. But they were considered "fringe" or strange (as Corran Horn points out in "Union", "my grandfather was Corellian, and you know Corellians are different" or something like that. It is pointed out often that Nejaa was something of an exception to the rule, having trained, then returned home for most of the rest of his life to train his son Hal.) A'Sharaad Hett's father also was considered "different" (in more ways than one; besides getting married, he became a Tusken. My goodness.)

So getting married WAS forbidden to Jedi.

Great story! I knew something was going on with the two from the start...but I thought it was just me.

Stop going on about the whole marriage issue. Anakin did and the Jedi probably had forseen it yet didn't care. Oh well.

Ani-maniac's Comments:

I liked this story. As so many have said, I knew there was something between Qui-Gon and Shmi. But, also as many have, I want to adress the Jedi marriage issue. (Sorry to keep going on about it, but I wanted to put my two credits in.) Jedi, at least in the Old Jedi Order can NOT marry. Luke, however chose to allow marriage.(I think it will come back to haunt him latter). But in the prquels, marriage is FORBIDDEN. That was one of the reasons Anakin got in so much trouble:) Also, maybe you could mention Tahl, the fellow Jedi Qui-Gon had fallen in love with. But, anyway, great story!!!!! Keep writing!!!

This was a wonderfully sweet story and very well written. As for the marriage issue..according to the books and movies I came away a bit confused. Some books led me to believe that marriage wasn't so much forbidden as highly frowned upon. I don't think it detracted from this story at all though.

Though I am sure they shared more than just a moment. Or maybe that's just my twisted mind at work. I'm sure, however, he would have returned and saved had maul not cut his life short.
