NOTE : If a reviewer beta-reads a fan fiction, that reviewer cannot review that fan fiction if it ever gets submitted.
NOTE : If you are looking for a beta-reader for your fan fiction, you can simply e-mail the Beta-Readers Email List (betareaders@fanfic.theforce.net), and it will be sent to 50+ beta-readers, who can contact you about the possibility of doing a beta-reading (if they are interested in doing it). One does not have to be registered or subscribed to the mailing list in order to send mail to it.
The beta reader mailing list is for requests only. DO NOT use it to distribute your story.

I will read almost anything, Those above are just what I prefer. I'm not as good at the grammer.

My names Jaina, Im 14 years old, I have a medium sized family, and I live in Oklahoma. Altough I have no clue what that has to do with Star Wars it said life in general. My mom liked the names Jaina and Jacen so me and my twin brother were named that. She only read one book though and saw the names right before we were born and decided to name us after them. I got into Star Wars because I wanted to know where my mom came up with our names, and I loved the books. I like the fan fics because I get new ideas of what might happen in upcoming books. I maily read New Jedi Order books but im about to go back and read the others. Well I guess thats about it. I would be very happy to beta-read for you.
Preferred Genres :
Adventure; Humour; Missing Scene; Political Intrigue; Romance; Star Wars Historical; Vignette
Limits :
I will not beta-read anything from the New Jedi Order timeline.

I've been a beta-reader in other fandoms, and I tend to like to hand-pick those I beta with. In addition to compatible writing styles, I look for someone with a sense of humor who doesn't take what they're doing too seriously, but at the same time, one who is willing to give it the time and effort to make it a good story.
Preferably, I work with Romance and Adventure writers, although I will sometimes dabble in the other genres I've selected.
My beta-reading style varies with the author. If I have a personal rapport with an author (if we get along well), I will make jokes with my comments and be slightly sarcastic. I tend to point out things like redundancies and word-flow problems.
It is preferable that betaees have some version of Microsoft Word when working with me, because I like to use the "track changes" option. This allows me to make a change directly in the file and then gives the author a chance to approve the change (accept) or disregard it (reject) by right-clicking on the red underlined portion of the text.
I am most interested in the second-generation Skywalkers... Luke and Leia and then their children, barring the NJO series, which I will not beta-read, because I cannot stand it. But I will work with authors from the first (chronologically speaking) triology.
Comments :
If you want someone to tell you how nice your work is, go somewhere else. However, if you want your work torn to little, bloody pieces, I'll do. If your story's good, I'll do all I can to see it gets in--but if it should be scrapped and restarted, don't worry, I'll tell you that, too. My style is not terribly gentle, but I don't bite (unless you ask nicely).
Limits :
No X-Wing stuff simply because I haven't read those and couldn't comment for accuracy. I'm also not up to date on the New Jedi Order. I will proofread anything though, as far as grammar, spelling, etc.
Comments :
I am happy to beta-read almost anything, pretty much--the characters I list above are simply my favorites, especially Boba Fett. Email me if you want me to read something I haven't checked and I will consider it. I am a writer/editor so I have a good grasp of English if you need help with the mechanical stuff (was an English/creative writing major in college and worked in book publishing for 3 years). I'm not harsh, I'll give constructive criticism but won't rip stuff apart. I love Star Wars and can't wait to read, so bring 'em on!! :)
Limits :
Nothing that requires knowledge of the New Jedi Order, since I have none. Preferably no AU of episode III, although ep. I AU is fine. Romance is OK, but obviously, no Anakin Solo/Tahiri (that IS who Tahiri is a couple with, right?), because, as already stated, I don't know anything about that whole genre. Oh, and no "Obi mourning for his master after or during ep. I", because a. that is completely and totally overdone, and b. it will make me cry. The same goes for Leia post-Alderaan/Bespin.
Comments :
I LOVE tearjerkers and romances, although they both will make me cry, so my sister will think I'm reaaaaally weird for the rest of the day, but whatever... let's see... it says comments on life in general, so I might as well... MUAHAHAHAHA I can swear at my English teacher in Gibberish and Corellian and Russian and he has no clue what I'm saying cuz he's an English teacher, not a Gibberish or Corellian or Russian teacher... muahahahahaha... I can also swear at the director of the play I'm in and she won't know it... she just thinks I'm weird... so whatever... hehehehehehehehe...

I don't write fanfiction, but I read it all the time. I am majoring in Literature next year and reading through stories and things of that nature is helping me raise my skill level in grammar and other stuff like that.
Preferred Genres :
Alternate Universe; Angst; Drama; Humour; Jedi Philosophy; Missing Scene; Political Intrigue; Romance; Star Wars Historical; Vignette
Limits :
No EU. There are plenty of readers here who specialize in that area. I would like to work with those writers who color outside the lines. I like AU's, and I like OC's.
No ObiSabeAniDala type stories. Improbable romances do not interest me.
Comments :
I'm an irascible sort who's dabbled in fanfic on and off since the early 1990's. I started out in print zines such as Hibernation Sickness and Another Sky. I stepped away from the fanfic world in the mid 90's to pursue a novel or two using original characters and settings. I returned to writing SW fanfic in 2005, and have been writing on a semi-regular basis in my own private AU since my first story was posted in the Forums.
